About Me and My Counselling -

Hello, and welcome!

I’m Anni and I am a qualified counsellor offering a warm, thoughtful, and professional space where your individual needs are placed at the centre of our work. I believe therapy is most effective when it feels collaborative - where you feel heard, respected, and supported to explore your experiences at your own pace.

I work compassionately alongside clients navigating grief and loss, life-changing diagnoses, relationship difficulties, overwhelm, anxiety, and questions about direction or purpose. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or feeling uncertain about what comes next, our sessions are shaped around what feels most important and relevant to you.

My approach is grounded in Person-Centred therapy and informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside mindfulness-based practices if helpful. This means we not only explore your experiences with care and understanding, but also gently build skills to help you respond to difficult thoughts and emotions with greater steadiness and clarity. Together, we focus on supporting you to move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned.

Above all, I aim to offer a space that feels safe, genuine, and supportive, where you can begin to make sense of your experiences and find your way forward with confidence.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct. I attend regular supervision, have full personal liability insurance and I am enhanced DBS checked to maintain professional standards. I am also committed to further development and learning with ongoing Continuing Professional Development.

If you’re seeking a compassionate and professional therapist to support you through a difficult time, do reach out to arrange an initial session, where we can explore together how I can best support you.

Experience

Alongside my private practice, I have worked for several years within an NHS Psychological Therapies team. In this role, I support individuals affected by cancer, as well as their families, in navigating the complex emotional impact of diagnosis and treatment - including grief and loss, existential concerns, relationship challenges, stress, anxiety, and depression.

I have also worked for over 15 years in nursery and primary school settings where I have provided practical, behavioural, emotional and counselling support to children.

My counselling work with adults, children and young people can include talking therapy, as well as other media if desired, such as sand tray, clay, paint, drawing, mindfulness etc. Working with different media may help to express, understand, reflect on and work through thoughts, feelings and struggles, when finding the right words might be difficult.

Sessions

What to expect…

I offer 1:1 sessions in person at The Wilbury Clinic, Hove, and at The Gather Rooms, Lewes, as well as online or over the phone. Individual session costs are £55 and take place at an agreed time, usually on a weekly basis.

Each session lasts 50 minutes and the number of sessions you will need is flexible depending on what you would like to explore and achieve. This can be discussed and agreed together - I will be guided by you.

If you think I might be able to help, please do get in touch to book a free 20 minute introductory phone call by clicking the link below or by messaging me at: annabellecounselling@yahoo.com

During the introductory phonecall you’ll have the opportunity to see how it feels to speak with me - we’ll talk about what brings you to counselling and what you hope to achieve, as well as any questions you might have. There is no pressure or obligation, the call will simply provide a space to explore whether I can meet your needs and to help us get a sense of whether we’re the right fit to work together.
